Families gather at cemeteries to offer flowers and mementos of their loved ones that are buried there. In some parts of Mexico, this holiday is celebrated with a “beauty” contest for the deceased – women who died before marriage would be dressed up in bridal gowns and paraded around town as though they were still alive.
